CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY- Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick T. Chua continued his visits to the Mindanao NEDA Regional Offices (NRO) by gracing NRO-X on 2 September 2021.

Secretary Chua met with the regional staff to share the agency’s priorities to move the country forward amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his speech, Chua emphasized the two things worth pursing as “one” NEDA:

“One is the tighter link between planning, investment programming, budgeting, and policymaking to ensure that what we put in our plans will happen. Two, we have to talk to the experts so that we could better prepare our plans, programs, and policies for the needs of the future,” he said.

Moreover, the NEDA chief emphasized four emerging priorities to bring the country closer to its vision of eradicating extreme poverty by 2040. These are smart infrastructure, innovation, regional equity, and climate change.

He ended his speech by encouraging the staff to pursue opportunities for growth, saying, “The most important part of living is learning. We cannot stop learning if we want to serve better and deliver more. We always have to be mindful of the results of what we are doing.”

Secretary Chua visited all the NEDA Regional Offices in Mindanao with Regional Development Group Undersecretary Mercedita A. Sombilla from 30 August to 3 September 2021.
