CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY– Northern Mindanao solons supported on Friday priority programs and projects that will get the region’s economy back on track and increase resiliency of its industries and communities.
The Regional Development Council (RDC-X) Advisory Committee of Northern Mindanao (RAC-X), whose membership includes Region X congresspersons, supported and endorsed to the RDC-X Full Council the FY 2022 budget proposals of its agency regional offices, state universities and colleges, and other government instrumentalities amounting to PhP318.73 billion during its online meeting on 12 March 2021.
The Committee also supported the region’s 171 priority catalytic programs, projects, and activities, amounting to PhP161.08 billion.
In his opening statement, RDC-X Chair and Misamis Occidental Governor Philip T. Tan thanked Region X’s legislators for their unwavering support to all development undertakings of this Council. “We hope for your sustained commitment as vanguards of our region’s priorities, particularly in shepherding our Fiscal Year 2022 Regional Budget Proposals,” Governor Tan said.
RAC-X Lead Convenor, House of Representatives Deputy Speaker, and Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Representative Hon. Rufus B. Rodriguez acknowledged regional partners for laying the groundwork in crafting the region’s priority programs and projects for 2022.
“This concerted effort is a testament of our shared intent to protect the integrity of the budget process,” Congressman Rodriguez said. “Given our access to the centralized power of the national budget, let me assure every one of our strong support and commitment in safeguarding Northern Mindanao’s development priorities and imperatives,” he added.
The body likewise supported PHIVIDEC’s Industrial Estate Infrastructure Program amounting to PhP4.884 billion – part of the regional budget proposal of DPWH-X for FY 2022, and the region’s priority legislative agenda for the next two years.
The RDC-X will meet on 19 March 2021 to endorse the budget proposals to agency central offices and the Department of Budget and Management for consideration in the proposed FY 2022 national budget.
