CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines (June 5, 2017) – A joint executive committee meeting of the Regional Development Council (RDC-X) and Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC-X) was held at the Grand Caprice Restaurant here with the national officials from the security cluster, national government agencies, private sector representatives, and local chief executives in attendance. The meeting was co-presided by RDC-X Chair Jose Maria R. Zubiri, Governor of Bukidnon, and RPOC-X Chair Oscar C. Moreno, City Mayor of Cagayan de Oro.
Discussions centered on the National Security Policy (NSP) 2017-2022 of the government which views national security as a holistic and broad concept. In his presentation, Undersecretary Vicente M. He added that the NSP is aligned and in tandem with the recently approved Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022, and warrants broad-based support from the public and private sectors.
Other matters discussed during the meeting include a briefing on the Organization for the National Security (ONS) by NSC Assistant Secretary Lorenzo A. Clavejo, and updates on the peace and order situation in the region and the implementation of the Martial Law in Mindanao.

In his message, RDC-X Chair Zubiri called on all stakeholders to also address the unsettling peace and order situation through enhanced poverty reduction efforts and socio-economic development, and urged everyone to remain driven and be more focused in planning strategies and action given the current peace and security challenges.
“May we continue to remain proactive and positive, so that together we will achieve our vision for Northern Mindanao and for our country, the Philippines”, Governor Zubiri added. (Richardson T. Cua, NEDA-X)
