The National Economic and Development Authority Regional Office X (NEDA-X) launched on December 14, 2016 the Regional Socio-Economic Analysis and Research Center (RESEARCH-X) , a computer-based database system of key economic and social statistical information for analysis and policy-making. The database covers four major sectors namely: Macro, Social, Economic and Infrastructure.
NEDA-X Assistant Regional Director (ARD) Mae Ester T. Guiamadel welcomed some 40 participants representing the media, the Regional Association of Government Communicators (RAGCOM), the Regional Statistics Committee, and the academe. “The system is intended to provide a better platform for easy access of frequently requested regional and local socio-economic data,” ARD Guiamadel said.
Engr. Cecilio Y. Clarete, the Chief Economic Development Specialist of the NEDA-X Development Research Division, briefed the participants on how the database works noting that, for the time-being, it is accessible only locally at the NEDA-X RESEARCH Center.
The launching was followed by a briefing on the Ambisyon Natin 2040 and the 3rd quarter 2016 regional economic situation. The 3rd quarter 2016 data generally showed positive performance especially that of the agriculture sector which showed strong recovery from the effects of the El Niño phenomenon.
The activity was capped with a fellowship as a way of strengthening relations with our development partners, especially that with the media.
